Google AdWords had a problem during the installation: The error code is 2739.

Full Error Message: “The installer has encountered an unexpected error installing this package. This may indicate a problem with this package. The error code is 2739.”
I am running a Windows Vista HP Laptop, model Pavilion dv9000, with 2 GB RAM and the AMD Turion64 processor and NVIDIA Graphics card.
Issue Resolution:

It is MS Installer error (it’s used by Pack to install Screensaver) -
2739 means JavaScript is not registered on the machine. I saw this
bein an issue on Vista recently… You can run cmd.exe and do this in
command prompt:
regsvr32 jscript.dll (there is a space between the 2 components)
This will simply will register Microsoft jscript as a JavaScript engine (as it should be on all machines). Warning: you will most likely get a warning message, like the following:

“The module ‘jscript.dll’ was loaded but the call to DllRegisterServer failed with error code 0×80004005. For more information about this problem, search online using the error code as a search term.”

This is expected and should still result in allowing the Google AdWords Editor to be installed. Try the installation again.

I have a HP Pavilion dv9000 and a 22″ Gateway monitor. I run the HP Laptop screen as my primary monitor and the Gateway as my secondary or dual monitor. The HP is running Windows Vista Premium Home Edition and is only a couple of months old. The machine has 2 GB Ram and I run a 4 GB Ready Boost thumb drive as secondary memory.

I allocate an extra 2 GB of memory for ReadyBoost. Haven’t noticed a ton of improvements using ReadyBoost and I have used the full 4 GB as well, but doubt that was fully utilized.

One problem that I was consistently having: my mouse cursor would disappear after Sleep or Hibernate, but only for the second or dual monitor. The cursor would always remain for my primary monitor. I tried everything from turning the 2nd monitor off then on, mouse driver re-installs, unplugging the monitor cable and a variety of other troubleshooting. At this point, the only thing that worked was a Restart or Power Down - Reboot.
The Disappearing Cursor fix: turn mouse trails ON
Control Panel, Mouse, Mouse Options — I recommend setting the length of trail to the shortest, so it’s not too distracting to use.

Link building, done correctly and without causing the search engines to think you’re doing something wrong, can turn the right anchor text into excellent SERP ranking power.

Research your competitors and once you understand how others have brought in links, you’ll have a better idea of the direction you need to go to make your website more successful in organic search results.

Beware of anyone offering shortcuts or big promises with incoming, one-way links as they may be giving you an exit from the search engine rankings. Buying into a link farm or other negative links can really destroy your existing Organic Search Rankings.

Can Search Engine Bots - Spiders read Flash for SEO

Historically, spiders and bots have not been able to ready anything related to Flash. So, designing in Flash has been a very poor practice for any business that wants or needs to be recognized and highly ranked by Search Engines. Additionally, Flash pages or pages with large or multiple Flash components often take too long to load.

You might ask ‘Why would long page load times negatively affect my site’? Most web visitors click away from a site in five to seven seconds. Likely in the 75 to 80% range for many web sites and to further support that, take a look at your “time on site” stats within your web logs or on Google Analytics. Aside from usability issues, search engines are less likely to crawl, index, and rank sites - if they take too long to load or the file size is too large.

Doesn’t current technology with web 2.0 and the social media movement change SEO? Not overall - search engines still deliver the vast majority of web traffic. Some search engines can read elements of flash files but they still can’t read images and movie related code. For now.

So what is the worst use of Flash? By far - Splash pages! It’s almost 2008 and Flash Splash pages should not exist in this era. You only have seconds to capture the attention of a web visitor and a Splash page is just an extra click, extra load time … to get your web visitor to your real content. Don’t waste your time or money on Flash splash pages.

Short answer: Flash is not good for website desiring Search Engine Optimization, Internet Marketing or Internet Advertising

What technology are search engines looking for and what are actually web site visitors are looking for? Those are vital questions when designing a new website or redesigning an existing website.

Search engines have spiders or bots to visit, search, index and rank any website and want a simple text content based website having simple navigation links which can be easily read and followed by its bots or spiders. Flash, frames of any type and Java Scripts are not good for search engines, and hence cannot be read, indexed or ranked.

With Content Management systems, you need to be very careful in making sure the management system can handle important SEO aspects; like Title Tags, Description Tags, (H1, H2 and possibly H3 tags), images and ALT tags for images and produce meaningful URLs without special characters and with some keywords within the URL (not just numbers).

Linking

Linking with other websites - A popular method of increasing a websites search ranking is to use links from other sites. There are two types of links, inbound links ( a site links to your site without a return link ) and reciprocal linking ( a website links to yours and your site links to theirs ).

Inbound links - are the most valuable to your search ranking. This type of link tells the search engine that your site contains valuable content and it is recommended by the linking site. Although the boost you get is dependent on the site linking to yours. If it’s a popular well ranking site itself, the gain much more than if the linking to yours is low ranking, but it rarely hurts your ranking.

Reciprocal linking

A good practice is to provide useful content that people will want to link to. Informative articles, tools, software, images. Just look around, the Internet is full of free stuff and that’s the biggest reason for it. People providing the free stuff want other sites to link to them. Most honest webmasters will link their sites to your content if they think their users will find it helpful. After all, they want their visitors to be happy they visited their site and sometimes that means linking to something that they don’t have on their own website.

Internal Website Linking

A very important reminder is that when you link from one internal page to another page within your website, you should always use keywords that are relevant to the page you’re linking to (receiving or landing page). I’ve seen a lot of sites that just use the phrase ‘click here’ when linking to another page on their website from within the text content. It is much better to use a relevant keyword phrase - for example, if you’re linking to a web page that has new office locations, you might use a phrase like “visit our new dermatology office location“.

You should not ‘over-do’ links on any page as too many links take away from the credibility/value of the links you want to focus on. Every link on your website should be seen as an opportunity to use keywords that are relevant to the page they link to.

For outbound links (links to other websites), Google makes reference to having 100 or less outbound links on any single page. I believe the number should be more like 15-30 outbound links on most pages to keep the link value at the highest level, however 30-50 or so outbound links are reasonable.

Also, you might want to consider using a site map (sitemap.xml). This should be a simple text page that provides direct access to every page of your website - every page that you would like indexed and ranked. Some pages like, ‘Members Login’ might not be included because you don’t need that page indexed.

Should a business start with Paid Search (Pay-per-Click, PPC) or Natural Search (Search Engine Optimization)? This is a great question and one to heavily consider.

PPC Campaigns can get your website showing on the major search engines (Google, MSN, Yahoo …) nearly immediately. The setup of a thorough paid campaign can run 10-25% of your project monthly budget, typically with a $500 monthly minimum fee - plus the cost of the clicks. So a $5,000 monthly budget could cost $1,000 (setup at 20%) and then a monthly maintenance fee of, say 10% or $500. The good news is the control, flexibility and ability to measure results. Your SEO Company should be able to measure the number of goal conversions, which will give you solid metrics to measure your ROI.

Natural Search is the optimization of your website and the promotion of that website to the major search engines. Don’t be fooled by SEO Companies that ’submit your site to thousands of search engines’ - there are only a handful of major search engines and directories that matter at all. The old saying ‘you get what you pay for’ is very relevant with SEO Work, however you have to go deeper because a large price tag doesn’t always mean you are getting the best service either. Natural Search takes time to be successful and requires someone that really has experience in the SEO field.

The answer that we recommend is: do both.

Paid Search gets you going and provides great information to the SEO manager, which will help considerably with the Natural Search campaign. It really comes down to budget and goals.

How many times in the past have you opened a telephone directory and searched, topic after topic, trying to locate what you need? It’s frustrating isn’t it?

Keep that in mind, the customer you are trying to reach with your website, what words referred to as “keywords” will they use to find the information they are searching for. That is a huge reason for using the best SEO company that your budget will allow, especially for Google searches. It’s knowing the most popular keywords and the formula the Google, or Yahoo, or MSN search engines use, to rank the order of importance of your site.

As a frequent user myself, I have found it much quicker and more of a time saver to search the “net” for information than to open a telephone directory, I only have the patience to browse the headings for about 20 listings, tops….that’s about 2 pages. If your website information is not there, chances are I won’t search further, and perhaps never find you or your service.

Therefore, in your selection of SEO companies, it is important to know how they rank on the information highway, especially powered by the top 5 Search Engine Companies.

Want to know more? Contact ImageForward.com, we specialize in custom optimization techniques to fit your budget as well as your goals.
